I came back to CoCo Palm near Pomona where Jolie and I, with Charlene/Miguel, spent one Thanksgiving dinner in 2023. Perhaps it is the first and the last Thanksgiving of “us” as husband and wife. In this shot, it is the last sunset of 40th year. It symbolizes the end of a chapter of my life. It is no longer the last few pages. It is truly the end.
Jolie, at the time of this photo, has moved to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
And of course, I arrived in Ontario Airport. It seems to me that my nameless companion, the blonde lady, is no longer taking the trip Ontario – San Jose anymore. During that 9 month period in 2021, she was always on the same flights with me from San Jose to Ontario and Ontario to San Jose.
And certainly, I had to pass by LIFT Coffee and North Campus Highlander Apartment complex in Riverside. What drew me toward such locations?
Perhaps, I came back here to say the final goodbye to our chapters. Perhaps, I came to say the final farewell to the birthplace of hope .
By no means I am regretting of whatever happened. By contrast, I am grateful for what happened. Holy Father! Thank you for blessing me with such a beautiful, eye-opening, heart-softening journey, during which I learned and came closer to You!
I found the church in Diamond Bar again, The Church of St. Denis. I was wandering, hopelessly, around Diamond Bar during 2023 Thanksgiving week. It was very foggy morning of Oct 26 2025. But I found peace, and perhaps closure. I knocked on Quan’s door and, miraculously, met Quan’s mom. Through her, I’ve learned that Quan has moved to San Jose, Adobe. Through her, I sensed peace and healing and happiness and, of course, strength in Quan. Isn’t that what I have always prayed for?
I walked to Long Beach, and downtown Pomona, and drove between Pomona/Chino Hill again to say the last good bye, in tears but also in peace and gratitude.
